Target #1: Defeat The County Commission's Proposed "Bed Tax"

We must stand together to oppose all excessive taxation and irresponsible government spending at the local, state, and federal levels. Our first target here in Leon County is to oppose the raising of the "bed tax" on the hotel industry here in Leon County.

On Thursday, March 19, meet at the Leon County Courthose (opposite the Old State Capitol) near at 301 South Monroe Street. We will meet at the northwest entrance to the Leon County Courthouse. From there, we will rise to the Leon County Commission Chambers on the 5th Floor for a tea party to oppose the raising of the "bed tax" on the hotels in Leon County.

For more information, contact Pace Allen at (850) 556-0709 or visit Pace Allen's Tax Tea Party website.

Scenes from the First Tallahassee Tea Party!

The First Tallahassee Tea Party was a success! More than 225 citizens from in and around the Tallahassee community participated! Dan Abel, the Leon County Republican Executive Committee Chairman gave welcoming remarks and Former US House Majority Leader and current Chairman of FreedomWorks, Dick Armey delivered the keynote address.

But mostly, the more than 225 citizens waved dozens of signs, USA and "Don't Tread on Me" flags, and hundreds of commuters passing by cheered us on (a few others didn't). This is only the beginning. Below are a few scenes from the first Tallahasseee Tea Party in front of Florida's Old State Capitol.

First Tallahassee Tea Party - St. Patrick's Day!

The first tea party protest of the Tallahasee Tea Party will be held on Tuesday, March 17 (St. Patrick's Day), to protest the $3 trillion federal spending bill recently passed by Congress.

This first tea party will let Governor Crist and the Florida Legislature know that we are not happy about the federal spending bill and we do not want Florida politicians to continue to lobby for more federal money. Instead, we would rather our state be kept financially sovereign from federal bailout packages. We don't need pork, we need liberty.

On St. Patrick's Day, we will remind lawmakers that with government intervention into the economy there is no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow of bailouts.
